Simple But Delicious Acai Bowls

Acai Bowl Recipe - Health Alchemist Training

Makes 1 serving.

  • 4 oz. Coconut Milk*
  • 1-2 Frozen bananas
  • 1 pack Acai, unsweetened
  • Toppings of your choice

*You can use any milk substitute you like!

Instructions for the crust:

  1. Blend coconut milk, bananas, and acai in a blender or food processer until smooth. This is not an exact science and varies depending on how hard the bananas are AND the device you are using. You may need to add more liquid if you’re having difficulty getting everything to blend. Just keep in mind that acai bowls are supposed to be thick, so too much liquid will give it a drippy, smoothie consistency.

  2. Once blended, spoon the mixture in a bowl and add toppings. Some options include granola, fresh fruit, nut butters, shredded coconut, honey, maple syrup, chia seeds. The world is your oyster!

Super Serious Nutrition Facts:

Acai bowls have been rising in trendy popularity and I have to say, THANK GOD, because THE HYPE IS REAL. I’m super, madly, deeply in love with Acai bowls. They are packed with nutrients and one of my favorite breakfast meals. Okay. First let’s get the pronunciation of acai right. Say it out loud with me. Ah-sigh-ee. Perfect! Now you can dominate the farmer’s markets and sound super pretentious around people who are totally not in the know.

It’s pretty hard to get bored of these bowls, especially because they are so easy to change up. Feel free to add different fruit to the base of the mixture. I personally love to add blueberries, mango, or pineapple from time to time. Word of caution though, there *has* to be banana. Banana is what makes this baby creamy and wonderful. Bananas are full of fiber (it helps you poop y’all), they’re loaded with essential vitamins and minerals (want me to list them? we could be here for awhile), they’re full of potassium (I know you know that), and they help with anemia because of their iron content. Yes, there are various nutritionists and supposed health people that inspire fruit fear. They make you scared of bananas because of their higher sugar content. But guess what?! That is natural sugar, boo boo! So tell those people to back it all the way up and you go enjoy your wonderful gift from the Earth.

Give acai bowls a try and send us photos of your inventive creations!
